Ski BoatIn 2006 Dreamfit in collaboration with The University of Western Australia is adapting a 235hp ski boat so that it is accessible to people with a variety of different disabilities including wheelchair users.

The modified boat will then be donated to the Disabled Recreation Club (inc) so that their members can share in the fun that able bodied people often take for granted.
Inaccessible is Unacceptable

| The modified boat is being designed to cater for a wide range of abilities. To make this possible, there will be three levels of participation 1) Joy Rides For people with more severe disabilities it is often impossible to get on the water. A custom hoist and seating arrangements will make this boat wheelchair friendly 2) Controlling the Boat Sitting behind the wheel of a 235hp boat is a thrill. Steering aids and smart seating will enable a range of people to share the fun. 3) Water Skiing Using specialised equipment such as sit-skis people with various limitation such as amputations and lower limb paralysis can have a go skiing. A hoist can be utilised to aid the water to boat transfer.

How’s It All Possible?
Sponsorship Potential It is proven that recreation and leisure can help to significantly improve the quality of life for people with disabilities. The volunteers working on this project feel this is a worthy enough cause to donate their time however we need the support of local businesses through the donation of goods and services. If your company can help out in any way, we would love to hear from you. UWA Students Interested in this ProjectClick here for more information. Contact Details
