Dreamfit regularly receives requests for new project ideas for those living with disabilities. This constant call for community support means the organisation needs to find new ways to increase project capacity and expand.
The Dreamfit Engineering Professional Development Program (DEPDP) is a structured training and mentoring program which will see Dreamfit increasing its current quota of volunteers for 10 to 150! A significant increase!
So what would this mean for Dreamfit in the community?
The DEPDP will have a ripple effect. Expanding the number of engineering volunteers will have a direct benefit for those living with disabilities as Dreamfit will be able to produce a greater number of living and recreational solutions for the disabled community.
For the Engineering volunteers, the program will provide a structured pathway of practical workplace learning, essentially giving the students ‘real world’ professional skills that will take them seamlessly from their studies and into the workforce.
Students will also be exposed to the concept of social entrepreneurship and working to help people within the wider community.
Through the generous support of the Fogarty Foundation, Dreamfit is conducting a feasibility study and business plan for The Dreamfit Engineering Professional Development Program.
Fogarty share Dreamfit’s vision for a stronger community and are supporting Dreamfit to bring in the necessary expertise to assess and develop the Program.
The Fogarty Foundation, established in May 2000, aims to benefit the direct community through encouraging endeavors in excellence through education, the community and life.
Their core idea, to ‘deliver education opportunities that support people to achieve their potential and inspire community leadership’.
