Dreamfit is among 21 youth-led projects to receive a 2010 grant award through the Starbucks Youth Action Grants program.
Dreamfit was chosen through a competition established in 2008 by the International Youth Foundation (IYF) and Starbucks in order to make grants available to young leaders who have participated in YouthActionNet® fellowship programs.
YouthActionNet® seeks to develop a new generation of socially conscious global citizens who create positive change in their communities, their countries, and the world.
The grant has helped fit out 4 new project bays in the newly renovated Dreamplex.
A project bay is a workspace where volunteers can work on a project for a person with a disability and they are reusable, meaning once a project is completed, a new project can start!
There are currently 13 project bays in the Dreamplex that are up and running and already in use by student volunteers working on projects to fulfill dreams and enhance the lives of people living with disabilities.
"By having access to more project bays, we can enable more people to be able to volunteer thier time and skills to make and modify more solutions for more people living with disabilities in need." Shares Darren Lomman, Dreamfit CEO.
