Josiah’s Bicycle Engineering Challenge
Josiah is a nine-year-old Perth boy born with no arms with a dream to be able to go for a bicycle ride with his mates. However, Josiah’s dream will take some engineering ingenuity to help him get behind the handle bars.

Quad Dreamers
The Quad Dreamers club started from one family’s dream for their daughter, Jessica, to have a safe place to ride her quad bike.
Jessica’s father Peter recalls her excitement at gaining some independence: “When she first rode her Quad Bike by herself, we heard her squeal in delight at the realisation that she was doing it by herself.”
Dreamfit has been instrumental in securing funding to start the Quad Dreamer’s quad bike riding club for children to develop abilities. The club has been a great success with twenty-two children with intellectual and physical disabilities and their families now meeting on a fortnightly basis at the Wanneroo Motocross Club.
River Dreams
Brett’s dream has been to modify a trimaran so he can go enjoy sailing on the Swan River with his loyal dog, Chicky Babe.
Brett’s trimaran requires significant steering and access modifications to accommodate his wheelchair and disability. Stage one of Brett’s project has been achieved through a Dreamfit-UWA student project in 2007 to install a custom-made access ramp. Whilst Brett’s dream of sailing on his trimaran still has a way to go, he is well on his way to achieving his dream through the help of the Dreamfit Foundation and our student volunteers.
Brett said he is looking forward to the day when the modifications are complete and he can skipper his boat as it sails lazily up the river.
