Volunteers

Dreamfit Foundation values the contribution of our team of dedicated and hard-working volunteers. Together they selflessly donate thousands of hours of time to help us create new opportunities for people living with disabilities.

Our volunteers bring a range of different skills and come from a variety of backgrounds. Volunteering gives them the opportunity to give back to the community and be actively involved in helping people with disabilities. For our student volunteers, there are many opportunities to develop their professional workplace skills whilst applying their engineering and specialist knowledge to create some extraordinary opportunities for people with disabilities.

There are a number of ways you can volunteer your services to assist Dreamfit Foundation and people living with disabilities. We need volunteers in areas such as:

  • Expos and special event volunteers
  • Administration volunteers
  • Student volunteers from a number of disciplines including engineering, public relations, communications, marketing, business and occupational therapy
  • Mentor volunteers to assist our student volunteers to develop their professional skills
  • General labouring volunteers

“Dreamfit nourishes the transformation of students working on imaginary projects to engineers tackling real-life problems.”

- Mike, UWA Engineering student (Dreamfit Hovercraft Project)

“I began volunteering with Dreamfit as a mature-age writing student.  I wanted to give my time to an organisation where I felt that I could really make a difference.”

- Susan, ECU Professional Writing Student

“In 2007 I joined Dreamfit and worked on the Fairbridge Abseiling Tower … I already knew all the theoretical aspects from uni but the project management aspects in this were huge. It helped me to realise the scope of everything … plus I learnt how to organise different aspects and source outsiders to help us, and how to communicate with business people.”

- Josh, UWA Engineering student (Abseiling Tower Project) now employed with Abseiling Tower sponsor, Structerre Consulting Group
