In 2007, Fairbridge Village approached Dreamfit to create a custom-built abseiling tower for people with disabilities so they too can enjoy the exhilaration of descending a simulated cliff face.
The tower will become part of the ‘Adventure Therapy’ equipment based at Fairbridge Village for use during their camps for disadvantaged children and children with disabilities.
Dreamfit readily accepted the challenge to coordinate and design such a worthwhile project.
UWA engineering students, Josh Parker and Ian Subramaniam spent their 2007 academic year working on researching, designing and developing the abseiling tower project. The project continued through 2008 with the tower now positioned on site as the final aspects of the project are completed.
The abseiling tower is due to be launched in September 2009. Development and construction of the tower has been made possible through the generous funding and sponsorship support of UWA’s Engineering Faculty, Fairbridge, Lotterywest, Rio Tinto, Structerre Consulting Group, Thor Construction, Rollwell Engineering, Pinjarra Crane Hire and the Laminex Group. The project has also been supported by the generous donation of in-kind goods and services from a number of other businesses.
