Designing Dreams for People with Disabilities through Innovative Engineering Solutions

The Dreamfit Foundation is a unique Western Australian not for-profit-organisation that is actively working towards creating a sustainable movement where industry, academia, government and community partner together to fulfil dreams and overcome the challenges and frustrations of people with disabilities.

People with disabilities have dreams and aspirations just like all people. As such we believe that people with disabilities deserve more than just a wide car park and special parking. They have the right to freedom, independence and the right to make choices for themselves.  Dreamfit Foundation is taking up the challenge to help as many people with disabilities as possible to overcome their challenges and frustrations and to fulfil their Dreams.

Our innovative engineering projects are giving people with disabilities some extraordinary opportunities. Who would have thought that over forty local businesses could work together to help a person with paraplegia safely ride a two wheeled motorcycle? Or who would have thought that almost 300 university students would care enough to help a young boy Josiah, born with no arms fulfil his dream of riding a bicycle with his family, friends and class mates? With the support of the community, these dreams are now reality.

Late in 2010 we took Dreamfit Foundation to the next level with our expansion into the "Dreamplex". The Dreamplex is a 1,500 square meter workshop that has been offered to Dreamfit for just $1 per year thanks to the University of Western Australia. With all this space we are going to be able to take on lots more really exciting engineering projects where our team of staff and volunteers help people with disabilities fulfil their Dreams!
