Innovative Recreational and Leisure Equipment for People with Disabilities

Welcome to Dreamfit!

Have you got a disability or do you know someone that does? Are there activities you thought would never be possible?

In 2003, a T6 paraplegic told me if he had one wish, it would be to ride a motorcycle again. I took on a personal challenge to make this dream come true. Since then I have successfully designed and built a motorcycle that can be ridden without needing to use your legs. This dream is now a reality.

Dreamfit's aim is to provide innovative recreation and leisure equipment for people with disabilities, enabling them to participate in activities they never dreamt possible.

New Paper Published

A few months ago, I was invited to present a paper at the inaugural Australian Biomedical Engineering Conference that is being hosted in Adelaide, South Australia, at the end of October 2005. The conference is also part of the annual 'Engineering & the Physical Sciences in Medicine Conference.

I am quite excited as it is going to be the first time I've had a paper published. The paper I have prepared is titled Motorcycling Freedom: A Paraplegics Dream. You can view the paper here if you're interested. I welcome any feedback.

Being a student, the paper is in the running to win the Young Biomedical Engineer of the Year Award. This will be a fantastic recognition after spending over two years working on this project. Fingers crossed!!

Thanks goes out to the University of Western Australia who has contributed $1,200 towards the costs involved in attending the conference, so that it can be on display for all to see.

Until next time, take care,

Darren Lomman

Dreamfit Case Study - Young Business Network
Dreamfit has been added as a case study to the WA Small Business Development Corporation's Young Business Network web site. Feel free to have a read of the article and post your comments in our discussion forums.

New Web Site Online
Dreamfit now has it's new web site up and running. James Collins surprised me and completed the site within several days, not weeks. Any comments or suggestions are welcome!

Coming Soon - Brand New Web Site

I've mentioned it before - I've been meaning to give this website an overhaul with some much needed attention for a while. Unfortunately (or more so fortunately) I've have had so many other exciting things happening, I haven't been able to find the time.

SOLUTION: My web host, James Collins is living up to his promise and has offered to help.

"James prides himself on his high level of Customer Service, always going one step further"

He has very kindly offered to utilize his expertise to develop a professional website for me. I've seen the work in progress and it looks fantastic. It's so much easier to navigate, is full features, there no more broken links or empty pages and there is finally heaps of information and images of the paraplegic motorcycles.

James has told me it will be online in the next week or two so make sure you come back in the near future, to have a look around the NEW SITE!!
